Our Position On COVID-19

As the U.S. is grappling with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and its implications, we hope you and your families are remaining healthy and safe during this time. We want to reassure you that the safety and well-being of our employees and customers continues to be our top priority. We are continuing to actively monitor COVID-19 and are taking all reasonable and precautionary measures. Currently, our position is to continue operating when and where possible with the addition of the prudent steps as recommended by the CDC. As we make ready to open our new offices and climate-controlled facility, (201 Battery Park Road) we want to share a few reassurances:

  1. Our office is being provided with additional hand sanitizer and disinfectant supplies. Additional handwashing and sanitization practices have been in place for the past weeks and will continue.
  2. We have asked employees to still offer friendly greetings to customers without shaking hands or coming in physical contact. Please understand that what might seem like a slight inconvenience is really a planned reaction to insure your safety. We will be practicing "social distancing." We ask you to abide by this policy.
  3. We will be delaying any auctions and will attempt to be lenient some on fees during this time. We will strive to live our company values and do the right thing by our customers.
  4. We are fortunate that self-storage is an industry that is not anticipated to be highly impacted by COVID-19. Our business is based on a manager helping one customer at a time and our we are not typically high-traffic areas like traditional retail spaces. This lowers our risks. By following CDC guidelines and taking extra cleaning precautions, the health and safety of our employees and customers can be protected while we continue to help people to their better tomorrows.
Our plan is to remain open and operating. However, we would like to remind customers that there are several options of interacting with Smithfield Self Storage that don’t include physically coming into our office. You can make credit card payments online through this website, or you can call our customer service team at 757-357-6191 and we can assist you over the phone. Payments by check or money order can be deposited anytime into the drop box near our loading doors. And yes, we do accept cash in person.
